As of 25 September 2026, the latest MetaTrader 5 update is build 6230, which MetaQuotes published on 24 September 2026.[1] It gives the built-in AI Assistant new tools that read Expert Advisor inputs, start or remove programs on charts and query the Economic Calendar. Its release note lists no change to how Expert Advisors send orders. This page compares the published MT5 update notes since June 2025, newest first, with its relevance to a TradingView-to-MT5 workflow.

The table reflects the two official archives retrieved on 25 September 2026. Relevance is our reading of each release note against one path: a TradingView alert, its webhook, PineConnector, the PineConnector EA in a desktop MT5 terminal, and the broker. MetaQuotes does not grade its builds this way, and nothing here was tested on a terminal.
MT5 update guides in this library
Three sets of changes have their own article. Each one explains the MetaQuotes notes and ends with a checklist.
- MetaTrader 5 on Windows 7 and 8: builds 5320 and 6090: which Windows versions still receive MT5 updates, and what to check on an older PC or VPS image.
- MT5 build 6060: MCP, AI Assistant and passkeys: the new sign-in option and account access levels, and what MetaQuotes documents for a terminal that must stay connected.
- The MT5 AI Assistant and the Strategy Tester: builds 6140 to 6230: what the assistant can read and change, and where it sits beside an alert-driven EA.
Published MetaTrader 5 updates since June 2025, newest first
Dates are those on MetaQuotes' news posts at metaquotes.net.[2] Two differ by one day from the release-notes list at metatrader5.com, which dates build 5100 to 5 June 2025 and build 5370 to 16 October 2025.[3] Build 5430 appears in that list but not in the retrieved news archive, so its row cites the release note.[4]
Relevance grades mean the following:
- High: the change can stop the terminal starting, updating or logging in, and a terminal in that state cannot act on alerts.
- Medium: the change touches something used in the same terminal as the EA, or used to check what the EA did: specific logins, trading dialogs, reports, logs, proxy settings, or AI actions that change orders or remove programs from charts.
- Low: no specific alert-processing change identified in the cited note. This is a reading priority, not a compatibility finding. Development, testing and library changes can still matter to the programs you run.

Which MT5 builds matter for an EA acting on alerts?
These notes describe changes to MT5 and its related tools. They do not announce a change to the TradingView alert or PineConnector service, but the terminal receiving an alert can behave differently after an update. The release notes above fall into six areas. Two of them, Windows support and signing in or connecting, can stop the terminal itself from running or reaching the broker.

The detail behind each High and Medium grade follows. The Windows builds have their own section below.
- Sign-in, build 6060 (High). The broker controls whether passkeys are available. After registration, the note requires passkey confirmation on each connection, using a phone or a hardware key.[8] How that applies when an unattended terminal reconnects is not documented; register and test it on demo before using the same arrangement on an unattended live account. The new Trader level permits trading while blocking password changes, deposits and withdrawals. The build 6060 guide covers both.
- AI actions in the terminal, builds 6060 to 6230 (Medium). From build 6060, AI-initiated trading operations can be allowed, prohibited or set to need manual confirmation.[8] Build 6230 lets the assistant remove EAs and indicators from charts,[1] and build 6180 lets it read terminal and EA logs.[5] An EA taken off its chart cannot act on alerts. Whether AI trading actions follow the Algo Trading switch is not documented; test on demo. Build 6140 fixed a pending order's expiry being reset when the assistant changed its SL or TP.[6] See the AI Assistant guide.
- Reports and dialogs, builds 5100, 5260, 5572 and 5800 (Medium). Build 5260 corrected margin settings shown in symbol specifications for floating leverage.[17] From build 5572, "Total Profit" and "Total Loss" in trading reports include commissions and swaps, so totals from before and after that build are not calculated the same way.[13] Build 5800 stopped counting withdrawals in balance drawdown and began a trading-dialog redesign that puts one-click trading controls in a side panel.[10] Build 5100 lets trading history show position tickets, which helps match an EA's orders, deals and positions.[21]
- Connections, builds 5660 and 5326 (specific setups). Build 5660 removes SOCKS4 proxy support, so a terminal set to connect through a SOCKS4 proxy loses that route. That setup is graded High.[11] Build 5326 (Medium) checks the new password's length and complexity at the first connection after an account migrates from MetaTrader 4.[15] See MT4 vs MT5 for automated trading.
Which Windows versions does MetaTrader 5 support?
As of 25 September 2026, MetaQuotes' installation help lists Windows 10/11.[22] MetaQuotes named build 5320 as the last supported update for Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2008. Its note names one exception, for MT5 run through a Windows compatibility layer on another operating system.[16] Build 6090 later listed a Windows 7 fix while disabling the AI Assistant there. For the launch problem, its note advises installing the new version over the existing copy.[7] The two notes do not say whether Windows 7 terminals now receive every update, so treat that as not documented.
For the EA and its DLL, PineConnector's MT5 guide points to a compatibility guide that lists Windows 10/11 and Windows Server 2016, 2019 and 2022.[23] The Windows 7 and 8 guide sets out the options for an older home PC or VPS image. If you are replacing an outdated VPS image, ForexVPS (affiliate link) offers Windows VPS plans for MetaTrader.
How do MT5 updates reach your terminal?
MetaQuotes documents Live Update as a built-in system that cannot be disabled.[24] When the terminal connects to a trade server, it checks for new components and downloads them in the background. A dialog then offers Restart, which closes the platform and MetaEditor and restarts it, or Later, which applies the update at the next start.[24]
The restart matters for automation. The MQL5 Reference says an Expert Advisor is unloaded at terminal shutdown, and loaded again at start if it was attached to a chart before shutdown.[25] Update stages appear in the Journal with "LiveUpdate" in the Source column, and a failed update is retried after one hour.[24]
When a build reaches a given terminal varies. MetaQuotes documents the check on connection; the linked notes provide no delivery schedule by broker. Brokers also run their own server builds. Since build 5572 the terminal logs a warning when a broker's server is below build 5200, and the warning is informational and does not itself block connection.[13] Beta builds are separate: to move an installed platform to a beta build, MetaQuotes documents Help, Check Desktop Updates, Latest Beta Version.[22]
How to check which MT5 build you are running
- Journal: after an update, the entries marked LiveUpdate record each stage.[24]
- PineConnector Edge: Connections, then the account, then Terminal info shows fields such as the EA version and MT5 build.[26] Edge hosts MT5 and the PineConnector EA for you. When a hosted terminal takes a new build is not documented, so read the build in Terminal info.
-
From MQL5: for a developer inspecting the terminal, the
TERMINAL_BUILDproperty returns the client terminal build number.[27]
Compare that number with the first column of the table. Every numbered build above yours is newer than the build your terminal runs.
How to use this page after an MT5 update
- Read the new build number, using one of the methods above.
- Find every row between your previous build and the new one. Open the MetaQuotes note for each row graded High or Medium.
- Confirm the terminal restarted on the intended account. From build 6060, if your broker enables passkeys, the terminal prompts you to create one the first time you connect.[8]
- Check the Algo Trading button on the toolbar (called AutoTrading in MetaQuotes' help) and the EA's icon on its chart.[23][28] The "trade not allowed" guide covers both permission levels.
- Read the Experts and Journal tabs for errors after the restart.[29]
- Send a demo test alert and follow it through each checkpoint in PineConnector's test guide: the TradingView alert log, the processing record in Bridge, then the trade in the broker account.[30]
Changes for people who also write or test MQL5 EAs
These items matter when you compile or test your own MQL5 code. A Pine strategy is backtested in TradingView’s strategy report;[32] MetaQuotes documents the MT5 Strategy Tester for Expert Advisors.[31] The MT5 tester modelling modes and tester report guide cover that tool in depth.
- Build 5200: calling a hidden base-class method now needs an explicit qualifier. Duplicate names in one scope are errors, as is reusing an enum identifier in another enumeration in the same scope. Enum default parameter values must match their type exactly.[18]
-
Build 5260: a method with the same name in a derived class now hides base-class methods, and a
usingoperator restores the base overloads.[17] - Build 5320: input parameters can take an explicit visible name. The older syntax stays supported without warnings.[16]
- Build 5572: overriding a function marked final is now a compiler error. The tester's freeze-level check when deleting newly placed pending orders was corrected.[13]
- Build 5800: MetaEditor sets an AVX2 compilation mode when the CPU supports it, and CopyRates returns -1 for requests outside the available history.[10]
- Build 6060: SymbolInfoCommissions returns a symbol's commission rules. The tester fixes cover custom spreads in "Open prices only" mode, percentage-based swaps and custom margin settings.[8]
What this page cannot tell you
Each grade reflects what MetaQuotes chose to write in its note. A behaviour change that a note does not mention will not appear here. Nothing was installed, compiled or tested on a trading account for this page.
Release notes describe the platform, not your broker. A broker's own terminal distribution, its server build and its settings can differ, and none of those is covered here. Beta builds are not listed.
A build that changes nothing for the EA can still change what you see. Report totals, the trading dialog and log messages have all changed in this period, so record the build next to any figure you compare over time.
Frequently asked questions
What is the latest MetaTrader 5 build?
As of 25 September 2026, the latest MetaTrader 5 build announced by MetaQuotes is build 6230, published on 24 September 2026. It adds AI Assistant tools for Expert Advisor inputs, programs on charts and the Economic Calendar, plus new MQL5 matrix methods. The build before it was 6180, published on 3 September 2026.
What changed in MT5 build 6230?
MT5 build 6230 lets the AI Assistant read Expert Advisor inputs, prepare Strategy Tester runs, launch Expert Advisors and scripts on charts, remove Expert Advisors and indicators, and query the built-in Economic Calendar. MQL5 gains vector and matrix sorting and support for .NET CoreCLR 8+ libraries. MetaQuotes also fixed dark-theme display issues and two Web Terminal problems.
Where can I find the MT5 release notes?
MetaQuotes publishes MT5 release notes in two places, both titled "What's new in MetaTrader 5": the news section at metaquotes.net and the release-notes list at metatrader5.com. Desktop release notes name the build and date, then list changes by component, such as the terminal, MQL5, MetaEditor, the tester and the Web Terminal.
Does a MetaTrader 5 update stop my Expert Advisor?
A MetaTrader 5 update installs when the platform restarts, either at once or at the next start. The MQL5 Reference says an Expert Advisor is unloaded at terminal shutdown and loaded again at start if it was attached to a chart. After an update, check that the EA is on its chart and allowed to trade.
Can I turn off MetaTrader 5 automatic updates?
No. MetaQuotes' help says the built-in Live Update system cannot be disabled. After an update downloads, you can choose Restart or Later. With Later, the platform updates automatically at its next start. If an update fails because the connection is lost, the terminal tries again after one hour.
