Risk warning
CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Between 74-89% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. You should consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.
Two separate accounts
-
Your Pepperstone account
This is where your funds are held and where your orders are placed. Pepperstone decides whether you can open it.
-
Your PineConnector plan
It routes alert instructions to MT5. PineConnector does not hold funds, select trades or open broker accounts.
What your account needs
- Eligibility
- Account types, platforms and servers vary by your country of residence and the Pepperstone entity that serves you. Check what applies to you with Pepperstone.
- MT5
- Choose an MT5 trading account. The account’s platform does not change with where it is hosted.
- Exact server
- For Edge, find the account’s full server name in the Edge server directory. Portal’s live Broker Server Name selector is the final check. A similar name is not a substitute. If you run MT5 yourself, use the exact server supplied by your broker.
- Expert Advisors
- The account’s rules must permit Expert Advisors. Check this with Pepperstone for the account you choose.
Choose who runs MT5
Self-hosted MT5
If you need another EA or your own terminal, run MT5 yourself on Windows or a Windows VPS.
Start with a demo account
Get a Pepperstone MT5 demo account and note its login, trading password and exact server.
Follow the setup guide for your chosen route: PineConnector Edge or self-hosted MT5. Use one active receiver for the demo account.
Follow Test your setup and check the resulting demo order in MT5.
Already have an account with another broker? You can keep using it if its rules permit Expert Advisors. For Edge, its exact MT5 server must also be supported. For Pepperstone account checks, read the Pepperstone setup guide.
